New scoreboard at Markievicz Park
ONE of the most important aspects of Markievicz Park – the Sligo town venue’s scoreboard – has been upgraded. This newly-installed scoreboard, which is eagerly watched by fans, players and management, got its first outing on Wednesday of last week
KEEPING IT LIT: Gerry Kilfeather, one of the stalwarts of Markievicz Park, changes the names on the old scoreboard. when it kept count of the scores in the Sligo U-13 ‘A’ Football Championship final between St John’s and St
Mary’s, a game that ended 0-9 apiece (the replay takes place this Sunday at Ballymote’s Corran Park, 11.30am). The new scoreboard at Sligo GAA’s county grounds and the scoreboard that it replaced were both funded by Clifford Electrical – the Clifford family have been synonymous with Sligo GAA for decades, through administration, playing the game and as sponsors.
SMILES: The Yeats United Girls U-14 squad, for the Sligo-Leitrim Girls U-14 League home fixture against Ballisodare United last Saturday. Yeats won 4-0 thanks to goals by Hope O’Brien and Ceola Vogt, each of whom scored twice.
