Glenview continue to star

GLENVIEW Stars continue to lead the Sligo Pallets Premier League. After four rounds the Forthill outfit boast a 100% record in Sligo-Leitrim’s second tier – their latest victory was last Sunday’s 5-1 home defeat of Benbulben FC.

Conor Cox scored twice for the winners, with Malcolm Reilly, Michael Ward and Thomas Myers also on target.

Scoring for Benbulben, who have now lost three of their four games so far, was Michael Gilmartin. Ballymote Celtic, who are second in the standings, were 2-0 winners away to Strand Celtic Reserves on Saturday night.

Cian Kilcoyne scored twice for the Mark Irwin-managed Ballymote – Kilcoyne scored a goal in each half. Ballymote are unbeaten, with three wins and one draw from their first four games this season.

Third-placed Gurteen Celtic won 5-2 at home against Ballygawley Celtic. Inspired by Dylan Walsh, Gurteen Celtic had to work hard for this win – they were initially a goal down when Conor Healy converted a penalty for the visitors.

A brace of goals from Dylan Walsh put Gurteen 2-1 up but Ballygawley equalised through a Christy Markham goal. Dylan Walsh continued to impress for Gurteen and he scored two more goals to put them on course for their third win. Billy Flynn also scored for the winners.

Kilglass-Enniscrone United lost 2-1 away to Calry Bohs Reserves. All the game’s goals came in the first-half. Joe Farrell’s excellent goal gave Calry Bohs Reserves a 1-0 lead. Kilglass-Enniscrone United came back into proceedings when Paul Tighe levelled matters.

A goal after half an hour from Dario Williams put the hosts back in front, 2-1, and that is how it remained. Carrick Town won 4-3 away to Dromahair FC. In this thriller, it was 2-2 at half-time. Dromahair started well with goals by Alan Kavanagh and Stephen Mullen.

Brendan Gunning’s goal sparked Carrick’s revival and this continued when Shane Byrne converted a 24th minute penalty.

Carrick were near unstoppable in the second-half and they went 4-2 ahead – David Regan’s goal put them in front for the first time with 69 minutes played and Shane Byrne supplied their fourth of the day with his second successful penalty in the 86th minute. Jamie Cawley pulled a goal back for the hosts with a minute to go but it didn’t alter the outcome.

Valley Rovers and Chaffpool United shared the spoils in a 3-3 thriller. Valley Rovers, who have yet to record a win this season, will wonder how they let this one slip as they were 3-0 ahead through goals by Jak Ozdobinski, who scored twice, and Paul Leydon. Chaffpool secured a draw via goals by Stephen Connolly, Niall Connolly and Denis Coffey.
