Cartron are setting the pace at the top
CARTRON United are now two points clear at the top of the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League. The title contenders – last season’s runners-up – won 5-0 away to Manor Rangers last Sunday for what was a fourth win from four games. Scoring for Cartron were Steve Patton (2), Jamie Hargadon, Ryan Hargadon and Donal Gallagher.
Holders Carbury FC, who are in second place, two points behind Cartron, blitzed Ballisodare United in a 6-1 outcome at MacSharry Park. A storming second-half made the difference as Carbury were just a goal up at half-time thanks to Mark McGoldrick’s strike.
The floodgates opened in the second period for Carbury – Gareth Kelly and Jason Lyons netted twice and Steven Armstrong also scored.

Conor Davey was on target for Ballisodare, who have lost their opening four games.
MCR FC, who are third in the standings, won 7-3 at home against Aughanagh Celtic.
Bradley Fowley’s hat-trick was the highlight for MCR, with Kailum Burns (2), Daniel Kilcullen and Jordan Harte also scoring. It was 6-0 at half-time.
Aughanagh made a game of it by netting three times in the second-half through Stephen Craig, Jack Taheny and Thomas Sheridan.
Mark McDaniel netted what proved to be the winning goal for Strand Celtic in their 3-2 away victory against Coolaney United.
The interval saw matters tied at 2-2. Coolaney’s goalscorers in the first-half were Enda Gallagher and Ryan Gillen, with Dylan Martin and Ross Doherty with the goals for Strand.

The meeting of Cliffoney Celtic and Arrow Harps produced six goals, with the former winning 4-2.
Scoring for Cliffoney, the home side, were James Gallagher (2), Kevin Gavigan and Kieran Coll. The goalscorers for Arrow Harps were Stephen Willis and Brian Boyd.
Meanwhile, there was one Super League game played last Saturday night – Calry Bohs beat St John’s FC 6-3 under lights at MacSharry Park. Eoin Nicholson inspired this win by scoring a hat-trick, two of his three goals came in the firsthalf, with Eoghan Doherty, Ronan Niland and Jack McGovern also on target for the winners. The St John’s goals came from Leon Clancy, John Feicks and Conor Healy.
This result leaves Calry fourth in the table and one of four teams yet to lose.
