Walsh put Tourlestrane in front, 2-3 to 0-7, and it could have been even better but Lauren Normanly’s fisted ‘goal’ was chalked off because of a square ball spotted by referee John Niland. Tourlestrane started the second-half by increasing their advantage to three points, 2-4 to 0-7, after Lauren Normanly offloaded to Cora Gilligan,

whose well-struck shot flew over the crossbar via a deflection.

St Nathy’s got out of jail and then got back in the game via that Blaithin Lavin goal.

With 15 minutes of normal time left it was level, 2-5 to 1-8, after Katie Walsh scored her only point of the second-half and Carol Coleman pointed a free for St Nathy’s.

Another Coleman free nudged St Nathy’s back ahead, 1-9 to 2-5, and it was still in the balance when Ciara Brennan equalised for Tourlestrane with 52 minutes on the clock. This would prove to be Tourlestrane’s last score, however, and when stoppage time was added, that meant 16 minutes without scoring. St Nathy’s, meanwhile, turned up the heat and switched to ‘let’s win this’ mode. They finished strongly by scoring three points without reply – firstly a brace of monster efforts from Denise McGrath, who was afterwards named Player of the Match, and then Carol Coleman’s fourth pointed free completed the St Nathy’s scoring in the eighth minute of time added on.

St Nathy’s had done it again.

DETERMINED: St Nathy’s player Lisa McGrath, who was part of last Saturday’s winning team.
