Strolling through Ulysses

On Wednesday, October 26, the play Strolling Through Ulysses will be performed at the Hawk’s

Well. Ulysses is considered one of the greatest novels ever written. Celebratin­g its 100th birthday they welcome writer, actor and Joycean enthusiast - Robert Gogan is on a mission to bring the fun-filled story of Bloomsday and this iconic work to the world at large. This entertaini­ng show presents extracts of the work and guides you through the curious events and quirky characters of Ulysses, in a humorous and informativ­e manner, presenting the comical, the descriptiv­e and the complex aspects of Joyce’s writing – without compromisi­ng the integrity of the great book. Pink Brunch at Blind Tiger

On Saturday, October 29, there will be a Pink Brunch at The Blind Tiger. Pink Brunch particular­ly around breast cancer awareness and the Charity event runs on helping raising money for Sligo Cancer Support Centre, where they offer a place of peace and hope. A place where you and your family can access one to one support and informatio­n in a caring and tranquil environmen­t in the North West of Ireland. It’s October and it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Tickets are available at The Blind Tiger Café or at the door on the day. Seis in Earley’s Bar next week

On Friday, October 28 The O’Neills will be performing at Earley’s Bar in the heart of Sligo town. Expect a packed house as the group get the weekend’s proceeding­s under way with some familiar faces performing. Music begins at 7pm.

Heavy Duty live at Anderson’s

On Sunday, October 30 Heavy Duty will be performing live at Anderson’s Grill and Bar. Starts at 10pm. Admission is free.

Susan O’Neill at the Hawk’s Well

On Sunday, October 23, Susan O’Neill will be performing at the Hawk’s Well Theatre for Sligo Live. Susan O’Neill is a songwriter of hidden depths, with a timeless voice she is audacity personifie­d. With the success of ‘In The Game’, her 2021 collaborat­ion album with Mick Flannery, and having wowed huge festival stages over the past few years as guest to various performers, Susan has also been honing her craft as a solo performer. Antiques fair at the Radisson

On Sunday, November 13, Treasure Chest Dublin is looking forward to seeing you at their 30th Sligo fair at their new venue, the Radisson

LGBTeaQ+ meetup next week

On Saturday, October 22, there will be a LGBTeaQ+ meetup at the Blind Tiger from 12pm to 2pm. This event is hosted by OutWest who have been supporting the LGBTQ community since 1997.

Vacuum Forming & Casting workshop

On Wednesday, October 26, there will be a Vacuum Forming and Casting workshop at The Model. This one day workshop facilitate­d by Catherine Devitt will demonstrat­e the design requiremen­ts for 3D Printing or Laser Cutting to create suitable forms that can be used with a desktop vacuum former. Participan­ts will be able to create a simple laser cut design which will be vacuum formed into a plastic mould.The workshop is aimed at craft designers and artists who want to expand their knowledge and use of fabricatio­n technology to expand and augment their creative practices. Eight places available. Cost is €25.

Automation and robotics roadshow

Taking place on Thursday, October 20, Reliance Automation hosts an event showcasing the latest industrial and collaborat­ive robotic technology. Hear about features and benefits of collaborat­ive versus industrial technologi­es as well as safety. Featuring Nachi industrial robots, UR cobots, MiR mobile robot & OnRobot end of arm tools. Grooveline­s at Anderson’s

This Saturday, October 22, the band Grooveline will be performing at Andersons Grill and Bar at 10pm. They are one of Ireland’s most dynamic upcoming bands playing a mix of Alt rock/funk with fusions of Pop and Trad.

House of the Hag at brewery

House of the Hag, is a free one-off day-to-night celebratio­n that will take place in the The White Hag Brewery in Sligo on October 29. This event has an exciting lineup bringing together live music and DJs with craft beer in a spooky concoction on the eve of Samhain. Spread across the brewhouse, warehouse and taproom of The White Hag in Ballymote, the event will run from 5pm until 10pm.

To make it an even more spooky event, attendees are encouraged to wear fancy dress with €250 worth of prizes for the best dressed outfit, and a range of smaller prizes for those with the most imaginativ­e costumes! This is a free event but places can be reserved on www.eventbrite.ie.
