Super pace is set by MCR FC
ARE MCR FC this season’s darkhorses in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League? For one week at least they sit on the top tier’s summit following a combination of scenarios from last weekend.
First off, MCR – previously third in the table – won 3-1 away to Cliffoney Celtic on Sunday last. Donagh Crowne’s first-half brace and a goal by Jordan Harte put MCR in a strong position at half-time – they led 3-1. Cliffoney’s only goal was scored by Jack Davitt, whose strike cancelled out Donagh Crowne’s first goal.
Holders Carbury FC – who weren’t in action last weekend – drop back to second in the table. Last year’s runners-up Cartron United are now third – they drew 1-1 away to Calry Bohs. Ryan Hargadon’s goal after 10 minutes gave Cartron the lead. Calry, who trailed 1-0 at halftime, earned a point through Eoin Nicholson’s second-half goal – his 12th of the campaign. But Aughanagh kept going and their recovery started when Sean Bruen scored after 43 minutes.
