Book of Evidence hoped to be ready soon in murder cases

A JUDGE was told it is hoped a Book of Evidence will be ready soon to allow it to be served on a man charged with the murder of two men in Sligo in April and a further charge of attempted murder.

The defendant, Yousef Palani (22), of 10 Markievicz Heights, Sligo, who faces the charges, appeared at Sligo District Court via video-link on Thursday of last week.

He is charged with the murder of Aidan Moffitt (41) at his home in Cartron Heights on April 10, 2022, and the murder of Michael Snee (58) at City View Apartments on April 12, 2022.

He is further charged with the attempted murder of Anthony Burke at Cleveragh Road in Sligo on April 9, 2022.

Solicitor for Palani, John Anderson appeared on behalf of the accused.

Sergeant Derek Butler made an applicatio­n to adjourn the matter until November 10.

Judge Sandra Murphy asked if the Book of Evidence was expected to be ready and the sergeant replied it is hoped to be.

Judge Murphy remanded the accused in custody to the November 10 sitting of the court for service of the Book of Evidence with consent to extend time for service of the Book of Evidence.
