Double success for Coláiste Muire Choir at Derry festival
ON Sunday evening last at the Closing Gala Concert of City of Derry International Choir Festival, the Coláiste Muire School Choir were announced as the winners of the Bishops Daly and Mehaffey Award for an outstanding performance in the school competitions. The award was presented by the Derry Inner City Trust. This was in addition to Coláiste Muire’s silver award at the competitions on Friday.
The choir participated in the competition for three and four-part secondary school choirs and also participated in the Post-Primary School Big Sing workshop with Finnish choral group Rajaton. Coláiste Muire Choir performed Daniel, Servant of the Lord and a setting of the poem A Red, Red Rose by Scottish poet Robbie Burns for an international panel of adjudicators at the Millenium Forum in Derry last Friday.
Later that afternoon the Coláiste Muire Choir performed at the Foyleside shopping centre.
