Another super result for leaders MCR FC

-

THERE’S just no stopping MCR FC right now. The Sligo Southern Hotel Super League leaders maintained their 100% record with a 4-0 away defeat of Coolaney United last Sunday. The winners were 3-0 up at half-time after goals in the opening period from Jordan Harte, Donagh Crowne and Ciaran Harvey.

Kailum Burns scored MCR’s fourth goal in the second-half – this was MCR’s seven win from seven games.

Last season’s runners-up Cartron United remain in second place – two points behind MCR – after their dramatic 2-1 defeat of St John’s FC at MacSharry Park.

Steven Patton gave Cartron the lead but Conor Healy’s goal from a free-kick brought St John’s level. It was 1-1 at half-time. Brendan Fitzsimons scored in second-half stoppage time to give Cartron the win.

Champions Carbury FC were 6-3 winners over Arrow Harps at MacSharry Park. 13 GOALS: Eoin Nicholson (Calry Bohs); 12 GOALS: Jason Lyons (Carbury FC); 9 GOALS: Dylan Martin (Strand Celtic), Raffaele Cretaro (Real Tubber); 7 GOALS: Ryan Hargadon (Cartron United), Malachy Spratt (St John’s FC).

16 GOALS: Cian Kilcoyne (Ballymote Celtic); 12 GOALS: Jack Hever (Ballymote Celtic); 11 GOALS: Thomas Sweeney (Gurteen Celtic); 10 GOALS: Dylan Walsh (Gurteen Celtic); 8 GOALS: Shane Beirne (Carrick Town).

Nathan Rooney’s brace of goals late in the second-half wrapped up the result for Carbury, who were made to work for their fifth win of the season.

The winners were 2-1 up at half-time thanks to goals from Aaron Murrin, who converted a penalty, and Steven Armstrong.

Arrow Harps, who pulled a goal back through Johnny Quinn, levelled matters after 50 minutes when Adam Kearns scored.

Goals from Gareth Kelly and Ross McLoughlin then put Carbury 4-2 ahead – but Arrow Harps were still vibrant and Patrick Kenny scored their third goal. Then Nathan Rooney got involved to ease Carbury’s nerves.

The champions, who are on FAI Junior Cup duty this weekend, are third in the standings – five points behind MCR but with a game in hand. On Saturday night, Real Tubber defeated Cliffoney Celtic 4-0 at MacSharry Park. Sligo Rovers legend Raffaele Cretaro bagged a hattrick for the winners.

Also on Saturday night, Ballisodare United won 3-2 at home against Strand Celtic. This was a first win in eight games for bottom of the table Ballisodare.
