Gardai make four arrests as part of organised crime probe in Sligo
GARDAI in Sligo have arrested four people, three male and one female over the past three days in connection with their ongoing investigation into organised crime in Sligo.
On Monday morning, November 7, two males and a female were arrested while a number of searches were also carried out in relation to the investigation.
The three were detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at various garda stations in County Sligo.
On Tuesday morning, the female, who is in her 30s, was released without charge, with a file now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The two men arrested were detained in custody.
On Wednesday morning gardaí made a third arrest. This man is also detained under the provisions of Section 50, Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Garda stations in Co. Sligo.
The two men arrested on Monday as part of this investigation remained detained at Garda stations in Co. Sligo as we go to press.
In a statement gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
In total 13 people have been arrested so far in connection with this investigation and two people have been charged.
