Councillors pay tribute to the late Micheál Healy
MONDAY’S November meeting of Sligo County Council adjourned for 15 minutes on Monday as a mark of respect for the late Micheál Healy, Ballygawley, father of sitting Sinn Féin councillor Thomas Healy. Before the adjournment fellow councillors and the Chief Executive of the Council offered their condolences to Cllr Healy and paid their respects to his late father. Variously described as a great community worker who was much loved in his area and known far and wide, Micheál Healy died peacefully on October 22 in Saint Phelim’s Nursing Home, Dromahair. Predeceased by his brothers Alfie, Christy, Steve, his sister May Willis, the late Micheál is deeply regretted by his loving wife Margaret, sons Paul, Thomas and Michael, daughters Karen and Johanne, sisters Patricia O’Connor and Kathleen O’Sullivan, brother John P, sons-inlaw, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, neighbours, and friends.
Cllr Healy thanked his fellow councillors for their help over what was a difficult time for the Healy family. He thanked the Chief Executive and the staff from SCC for their help and support.
He said he wished to thank the people of Ballygawley who helped the family in so many ways, the local gardaí and many others.
