A great day out at Scare in the Park in Riverstown
ON Sunday, October 30, the Sligo Folk Park hosted its annual, spooktacular event ‘Scare in the Park’ for Halloween. Guests arrived dressed for the occasion and ghosts, ghouls and vampires swooped about the park. Tricks and treats awaited all who dared enter.
A long line of skeletons, witches, pookas, fairies, cowboys, bats and monsters of many descriptions excitedly made their entry.
The atmosphere was filled with the chatter of children from toddlers to nineyear-olds as they waited for their turn to explore the ghoulish experiences in store around the park.
Guests gathered round in Millview House enthralled by ghostly tales. Children were given the opportunity to brush up on their magic at The Witches’ School and witness blood-curdling experiments in Frankenstein’s laboratory. At the Monster Jam Disco there was dancing in the dark to spine chilling “strains.”
There was face painting and a pumpkin carving competition won by Rivertown resident Grainne McDermott. Congratulations Grainne!
The glow of jack-o’-lanterns lit up ‘The Street’ where fun and games were had, and festive arts and crafts activities were enjoyed. Every child received a goody bag on their way home.
Organisers placed on record their gratitude to volunteers who gave their time on the day and the many visitors who made the event a great success.
