Another excellent victory for Gurteen

-

GURTEEN Celtic continue to set the pace at the top of the Sligo Pallets Premier League. Last Sunday the leaders won 8-1 away to Dromahair FC – an eighth win from nine games. Leading scorers Thomas Sweeney and Dylan Walsh each grabbed a brace, with Nathan Dwyer, Ross Donovan, Matt Henry and Billy Flynn also on target.

Thomas Sweeney and Dylan Walsh have, so far, scored 25 of Gurteen’s 51 goals – Sweeney with 13 and Walsh has bagged 12.

Dromahair’s goalscorer against

Gurteen was Shane Fowley. Ballymote Celtic, who are second in the standings, six points behind Gurteen, drew 4-4 with Valley Rovers on Friday night last.

Cian Kilcoyne’s 17th goal of the campaign earned Ballymote a point after a rollercoaster of a fixture under lights.

Valley Rovers led 2-1 at half-time – an own goal and a Jake Tobin strike put them in front after Ballymote had taken the lead through Jack Hever’s goal.

A second-hald brace from Ciaran

Jenning put Valley Rovers 4-1 up with half an hour left. Ballymote recovered, however. Jack Hever scored his second goal, there was an own goal and then Cian Kilcoyne’s equaliser. Glenview Stars are up to third in the table – they won 4-2 against Strand Celtic Reserves at the astroturf pitch in The Showgrounds on Saturday night.

Although they trailed 2-1 at the break, Glenview were transformed in the second-half and scored three times. On target for the winners were Thomas Myers (2), David Lynch and Michael Ward. The goalscorers for Strand Celtic’s second XI were Darragh McCormack and Jared Tiernan.

Chaffpool United were 5-4 winners at home over Calry Bohs Reserves. Eoin Carty’s goal after 89 minutes gave Chaffpool victory.

Also scoring for Chaffpool, who led 4-2 at half-time, were Shane Prendergast (2), Padraig Murtagh and Liam Carty.

Joe Kilcullen was on form for Calry Bohs Reserves – he scored a hat-trick. Billy McCarthy scored the other goal
