Tubbercurry-C’cool 1-7 0-6
A PURPOSEFUL second-half display set up Curry’s four-point defeat of Tubbercurry-Clooanacool in last Saturday’s Sligo U-21 ‘B’ Football Championship final at Bunninadden Community Park. It wasn’t all plain sailing for the winners, whose victory leaned on Jack Duffy’s contribution of 1-1 in the second period. Tubbercurry-Cloonacool started well and were leading at the break, 0-5 to 0-3, after first-half scores from Conor Matthews, who starred in his side’s semi-final defeat of Easkey-St Farnan’s, Aaron Perry, Liam Carty and Ben Henry.
Curry turned things around in the second-half, outscoring their opponents 1-4 to 0-1, with their Sligo U-20 contingent of Dylan McLoughlin, Brian Byrne, Adam Gallagher and Keith Feeley proving influential.
The beaten finalists only scored once in the second-half when Aaron Perry pointed. Curry’s six scorers on the day included Jack Duffy (1-1),
Eoghan Sweeney, who shot 0-2, Adam Gallagher, Oisin Frizzell, Brian Byrne and Luke Fleming.
Afterwards the trophy was presented to Curry’s joint-captains, Oisin Murphy and Keith Feeley, by Curry’s Terence Marren, who was representing Sligo GAA. Marren is the County Board’s children’s officer.
