A time for Reflection

-

The beautiful Reflections collection by Martina Hamilton has been expanded to incorporate three stunning new designs, available in time for the festive season. Designed by Martina Hamilton and made in Sligo, the inspiration for the collection came from the shimmer of sunlight reflected in dark rockpools and tidal eddies found at a beach close to Martina’s heart. The collection beautifully encapsulates the fleeting moments of reflection to the eye, that are so calming to the heart and mind.

‘It was always my intention to extend the Reflection collection to include a ‘statement’ pendant. The fluidity and organic nature of the design was crying out to be a bold, contemporary piece of jewellery to be admired and cherished’ explains Martina. The other new additions to the collection include largescale stud earrings, and a stunning 3-strand bangle which has the same wonderfully tactile surface that looks as if it has been weathered and aged by the constant pummelling of the sea. The ‘petite’ members of the Reflections collection are also available in 9-carat gold, and include the petite stud and drop earrings and the petite and smallscale pendant.

TEENAGERS are probably the hardest group of people to buy for at Christmas time. It can be hard to keep track of what the latest trends are since they last changed a few days ago. Here is a short list of some of the affordable but useful Christmas gifts for teenagers.

Spotify Premium: There’s nothing worse than being in the gym, or on a long car journey and an ads pops up in the middle of your playlist. Spotify premium gives you all your music add free and allows you to download your playlists, so your phone bill won’t be racked up from using 3G. This can easily be purchased online without having to go into town.

Popcorn maker: Popcorn is always the ‘go to’ snack for movie night. This is the perfect gadget to be pulled out for those cold winter movie nights in with all the friends. With just one cup of kernels, you can have a bowel of popcorn in under three minutes.

Record Player: Yep, that’s right, records are coming back into fashion. However, theres no point in having all those records without something to play them with. Christmas day is the perfect time of year for a dance party in the living room where everyone can have some fun. You never know, your teenager might even let you play one of your old records from the eighties.

Motion Control Drone: For those teenagers who like a bit of new tech, this is the perfect gift for under the tree. This affordable piece of kit is small enough so that it can fit into your hand but advanced enough to have coloured LED’s. With blade protectors and gyro stabilisation, it is safe for everyone to use.

Scratch map of Ireland: With a relax in the COVID restrictions, we can all go traveling again! This map allows you to scratch off the counties you have been to and a landmark will be revealed underneath. Not only does this suit the geography enthusiasts, it’s also a grat one for the interior designers as it doubles up as a poster.

Pocket Movie Projector: Sometimes a trip to the at home cinema is just what the doctor ordered. This pocket movie projector is a small gadget that can be easily be set up with just a white sheet or a blank wall. This is the perfect idea for a cosey night in with some friends and a movie marathon.

Movie Posters: Movie posters are a great way to decorate a bedroom or office space. Whether it’s good old Friends or a new Marvel movie, these are a timeless way to brighten up a blank space. The easy part of this is that these can be bought locally in Sligo town.

Reusable water bottle: With climate change on the minds of most young peoples, reusable water bottles are a must. They last for years and it is easy to tell whos is whos in school. Most reusable water bottles keep liquids hot and cold, making them ideal for school lunches. These can be bought from many of the shops locally.
