- By Richard Deignan

The Merville Management Committee, Merville CE Staff, the Dreamchasers Childcare Team and the wider Merville Community wish to offer condolences to the family and many Friends of Majella Gallagher (née Stewart) 35 Cartron Estate who has passed recently. Majella was an integral Part of the Launch of Dreamchasers Childcare in Merville in 2008, and touched the hearts of all who she came in contact with to this day, children and adults alike. Condolences are also extended to the families and many friends of Mary Meehan, Jink’s Avenue and Tony Gillen, Eastcote, London and formerly of 12 Treacy Avenue who have passed away recently from within our area.

Carols By Candlelight performed by Sligo Orpheus Choir at Holy Cross Friary 10th December at 8pm. Cash Donations on the night. All proceeds to Focus Ireland

As we enter the darkest of evenings, please keep an eye out particularly for elderly neighbours, the vulnerable and those living alone at this time. Be wary of opening the door anytime and especially after dark or allowing anyone you don’t know into your house. Stay safe this winter by watching out for all our community.

North west Hospice will hold their annual Light-Up-aLife event which will take place on Saturday, December 2 at 5pm in our Garden of Memories at Cleveragh Park, Sligo when the lights on their Memory Tree will be lit for the Christmas Season. Everyone is welcome so please come and join us and let’s remember those we have loved and lost this Christmas
