Irish duty for Finn Campbell at SIAB event
SLIGO teenager Finn Campbell helped an Irish team achieve bronze last weekend in Wales. The Summerhill College student was part of the 16-strong Irish Schools Athletics Association selection for the SIAB
Indoor Combined Events International that was hosted by Cardiff Metropolitan University and the Welsh Schools Athletics Association. Finn, who is a member of Sligo AC, was on the Irish Intermediate Boys team that took bronze in their category at the National Indoor
Athletics Centre at the Cyncoed Campus.
The talented Sligo competitor, who achieved two personal bests (PBs) on the day, was 12th overall in the standings. Also on the Intermediate Boys team were Eoin O’Callaghan (fourth), Shane McGrath (ninth) and Séan Doggett (10th). Their combined scores ensured third place and team bronze.
Campbell and his teammates competed in five events – 60 metres hurdles, 200 metres, long jump, shot put and 800 metres.
