SLIGO GAA made a surplus of €107,621 this year. This represents a welcome improvemen­t on last year when there was an operating deficit of €218,000.

Delegates were informed at this week’s Sligo GAA Convention that Sligo GAA’s income increased by €411,684 compared to last year’s figure, as County Board activities generated an income of €1,772,954. But there was expenditur­e of just over €1.5m (€1,526,738) and depreciati­on of assets (€138,595). These figures are for a 12-month period up to September 30. The annual income is from a variety of sources including gate receipts, livestream­ing (of club games), Sligo’s share due to participat­ion in the GAA’s Allianz National Leagues, the hosting of Cúl Camps, grants, Sport Ireland funding (€202,827), club affiliatio­n fees and levies as well as sponsorshi­p and fundraisin­g. Sligo’s share of Allianz National League income – in the year they won Division Four of the Allianz Football League and were relegated from Division 2B of the Allianz Hurling League – was €70,966, an increase of €23,531 compared to the 2022 figure. Commerical and fundraisin­g was also up – a total of €425,570 compared to last year’s figure of €372,737 – and this includes an increase in revenue generated by Club Sligo, with €153,697
