CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY: TRANSPORT CONSULTATION TONIGHT:
Sligo Public Participation Network has organised a consultation workshop this evening Thursday, at 7pm in Clayton Hotel. The consultation will be facilitated by Patrick Mulvihill Consultant to garner the views of people of County Sligo on future transport needs in our community. This feedback will inform the Sligo County Council Draft County Development Plan Transport
Section and will also provide evidence to the proposed Transport Forum being established under Sligo Vision 2030 plan. All welcome.
CARRAROE PARISH COUNCIL:
The current Parish Council is finished after some years of service to the Church and Holy
Well. Nomination will be open for new members in the New Year.

Thanks to Sligo County Council local team and Parks Department for undertaking this work. We hope to see the final outcome looking well later in year and hopefully will be a pleasant entrance to Sligo.

Garda Mark Connor is now the assigned Community Garda for the Carraroe area. Mark can be contacted at Sligo Garda Station on 0719157000. We want to highlight this facility is for Community use and not for use by commercial businesses. We want to thank residents of Carraroe for the respectful use of the Recycling Banks to date. Do not leave rubbish beside the bins. Please note the facility is monitored by recorded CCTV. 24/7.
We are appealing to all Carraroe residents to join the campaign to reduce use of paper, packaging and recycle as much as possible. Your efforts no matter how small will assist the environment and reduce our national carbon footprint. Remember every little individual effort counts. The Diamond SHOUT Ladies Lunch 2023 was back with a sparkle last Friday at The Diamond Coast Hotel Enniscrone with €20,525 raised and divided between SHOUT Cancer Care and North West Hospice Palliative Care. CHRISTMAS CONCERT: BINGO: TEEN DISCO: ENNISCRONE AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY COUNCIL:
of the Heritage Sub Committee of Enniscrone & District Community Development, and Frank Hall, of University of Galway, presented their results at a public meeting in the Family Resource centre on Thursday evening.
Frank Hall conducted a thorough examination of the existing structure pointing out features we were unaware off; Dr Paul Naessens carried out an survey aerial LiDAR to create 3-D maps of the site area to highlight ground features we would not normally see; and Philip Armstrong, a skilled archaeological artist, used the information gathered and detailed discussions to paint a fabulous picture of how Enniscrone Castle may once have looked, standing proud on the esker ridge overlooking Killala Bay. With its 4 towers each with 8 gun loops, and two gables with Jacobean style diamond shaped chimney stacks, dormer windowed attic, and very probably a surrounding bawn wall, it was a most impressive fortified residence. This project was only possible due to generous funding from the Heritage Council’s Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2023. It is essential that we aim to preserve our local heritage for future generations while also ensuring its structural heritage, so the Heritage Sub-Committee have commissioned a Conservation Management Plan through further funding from the National Monuments Community Monument Fund 2023.
