Fallen Leaves at The Model
The Film Society at The Model returns tonight, Thursday at 8pm for a showing of Fallen Leaves.
In Helsinki, Ansa and Holappa spend their lonely days in drab workplaces, bars full of stone-faced patrons, and sparsely decorated homes. When they meet randomly, their chance of happiness together is threatened by Holappa’s dependence on alcohol. Will they find their way back to each other? Aki Kaurismäki’s new film is typically melancholic, wryly humorous, life affirming, and wonderful fun.
Admission is €9, while concession tickets are €7.

Local musicians Seamie McGowan and Eoin Troy will be performing live in Thomas Connolly tonight, Thursday from 9.30pm.
Quiz night in Ballinafad
A quiz night is taking place at The Mayfly Inn in Ballinafad on Saturday from 9pm.
The quiz is being organised by the Lough Arrow Christmas Day Swim committee in aid of North West Hospice.
Entry for a table of four is €40. Raffle and refreshments on the night.

Open mic poetry at The Model
The Model is hosting a night of poetry and conversation on Thursday, February 1 from 8pm.
There’s an informal atmosphere and no need to sign up to read beforehand, you can just make your way there and enjoy yourself, read your own work or a favourite poem by a famous author.
This month we’ll be celebrating the poetry, fiction and journalism of Djuna Barnes.
Admission to this event is free.
Art exhibition in Enniscrone
An art exhibition will open in Enniscrone on Friday, February 2 from 6pm in the Abhainn Studio, Enterprise Centre on the Pier Road in Enniscrone.
The exhibition, featuring work by Daniel Chester with spoken word and songs by Mags Kilcoyne, is taking place as part of the new Brid Festival whic h celebrates the spirit of St Brigid.

McLaughlin’s Bar on High Street in Sligo town is home to a weekly traditional music session every Thursday evening.

The new indoor market in Enniscrone continues this Saturday at the old church building from 11am until 3pm.
Trad session in Earley’s
A trad session takes place in Earley’s Bar every Friday night. The music gets unde way at 9.30pm.
The High Kings at the Park Hotel
The High Kings are back in for their first Sligo concert of the year on Friday, January 19 in the Sligo Park Hotel at 8pm.

Sligo Park Run in Cleveragh
Sligo Park Run takes place in Cleveragh every Saturday morning at 9.30am.
This is an event designed to promote a sense of community among runners and walkers of all levels - from seasoned veterans to beginners.
Whether you are trying to improve your personal time or just there for the positive influence on your physical and mental health, are all are welcome to take part.
First time runners must register via www.parkrun.ie/sligo/.
Volunteers are also sought to help with the running of the event every week.
