We wish to offer our sincere condolence­s to the families of the late Donal McGovern, Cartron, Templeboy, Co. Sligo, who passed away on January 7th, 2024. Predecease­d by his brother Eamonn, sisters Sheila and Theresa. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Kate, his mother Sheila, sisters Bernie, Kathleen and Annamarie, Kate’s mother Maria, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, relatives in Cork and Kerry, his dear friend Johnny Flynn, neighbours and friends far and wide.

Our condolence­s also to the families of the late Peter Alfred (Alfie) Fitzpatric­k, (Nephin Lodge, Enniscrone, Co. Sligo and formerly Cappagh, Mohill, Co. Leitrim). Passed away peacefully, January

7th, 2024, in the loving care of the Nephin Lodge staff. Predecease­d by his parents John Fitzpatric­k and Annie Kilkenny, his sister Marie and brother Eugene. Alfie will be sadly missed by his sister Anne, his brothers Pat and John, his brother-in-law Michael and sisters in law Dorothy and Bridie, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

We wish to show our support for one of our own fantastic artists Daniel Chester from Enniscrone who will be showcasing a number of original artworks and some selected original prints with this newly opened gallery Abhainn Studio in Enniscrone, on the 2nd of February between 6.00-8.00pm, the exhibition is part of the Brid festival and will coincide with spoken word and song from the wonderful Margaret Kilcoyne. A huge thank you to Catherine Fanning, Sligo County Council and Noel Feeney for creating this opportunit­y.

Tireragh CCE are holding a General Knowledge Table Quiz - Saturday 27th January @7:30 in The Hilltop, Culleens - for the upcoming county fleadh which will take place in Easkey again this year. Promises to be a fun night for all.

Riverstown community games forms are currently being circulated through local primary schools and should be returned by Wednesday, January 24. Parents should complete form carefully to ensure their child does not miss out on any events. Form must be signed by both parent and child. Please return form in good time or child may miss out on early events. Confirmed local events include Area Gymnastics on Monday, February 19 at Yama Hara Centre (time tbc). The club are pleased to announce that Liam Gilmartin has been appointed as Senior Ladies team manager for the coming season. He will be joined by Fiona Lyons, Majella Muldowney and John Quinn. Best wishs to Liam and his management team for 2024. The 2023 underage awards will be presented on Sunday, January 21 at 4.30pm in Riverstown Hall.
