St Mary’s will host a 24-hour fun run/walk next month

EVENT LAUNCH: Members of St Mary’s GAA Club at the launch of the 24-hour fun run/walk at the VW/Audi dealership of Connolly Motor Group, who are the event sponsors. Next month’s fundraiser will raises funds for St Mary’s as well as two charities, Sligo Cancer Support Centre and North West STOP.

SAINT Mary’s GAA Club have launched a club fundraiser that will also benefit two local charities, Sligo Cancer Support Centre and North West STOP.

A 24-hour community fun run/walk, which was previously held in 2022, takes place next month at Mitchell Curley Park, Ballydooga­n. It starts at 4pm on Friday, February 2, continuing through the night and until the following day, Saturday, February 3, finishing at 5pm.

This upcoming event is organised so that there are different people walking, jogging running during the entire 24 hours. The 300 participan­ts are part of relay teams – each

team completes two hours.

Monies raised will go towards St Mary’s GAA Club developmen­t projects as well as the aforementi­oned Sligo Cancer Support Centre and North West STOP, which is a suicide prevention charity. Connolly Motor Group are the event sponsors.

Conor Conway, chairperso­n of St Mary’s GAA, says that this event, which is open to all and is part of their Healthy Club initiative, is something the club are delighted to host. He said: “We are thrilled to embark on this Healthy Club initiative which is open to all members of our community, whilst also supporting two outstandin­g local charities,
