A unique and beautiful space in heart of Sligo

-

A UNIQUE and beautiful space has been created at Number 45 High Street in the heart of Sligo town where all members of our community can meet, engage and have fun.

This is the first meeting space of its kind in Ireland and it is hoped that it will pave the way for a new concept in connecting communities.

You might come in for a cosy, quiet space to read a newspaper and stay for a chat. You might come to warm up with a hot drink and stay for some creative activities. You might come to see what it's all about and end up making someone else's day.

The accessible building was opened by the Sligo Centre for Independent Living in response to the isolation it was seeing among its members as well as a general diminished sense of belonging in communities in general.

Number 45 was the vision of Sligo CIL's board and staff to “be the change we wish to see” in the community. This vision was shared by a number of agencies including the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection, who have supported this project from the very beginning.

Behind the day-to-day operations of Number 45 is a dedicated team led by CEO Maria Mulligan.

She said: “Number 45 has come together through hard work, huge commitment from our team, generous and wholehearted support from the board, significant support from government agencies, together with an overarching belief by all in Sligo CIL that we can be the change we wish to see in our community.”

Everyone is welcome at Number 45. There are no exceptions. It is a place for one and all.
