Riverstown community games forms are currently being circulated through local primary schools and should be returned asap. Parents should complete form carefully to ensure their child does not miss out on any events. Form must be signed by both parent and child. Please return form in good time or child may miss out on early events. Confirmed local events include Area Gymnastics on Monday, February 19 at Yama Hara Centre (time tbc). Area swimming on Saturday, March 2 at 2pm and Quiz on Sunday, March 3 in Ballisodar­e Sports Centre at 5pm but there may be additional local events before these dates. Annual Fundraisin­g Concert in the Coleman Music Theatre on Saturday, February 3 at 8pm. COMMUNITY GAMES: CONCERT: SLIGO SAMARITANS:

Sligo Samaritans will be recruiting volunteers again at the moment.

You can attend an Open Day on Saturday the 3rd of February in the Samaritans Centre on the Mall to find out what it is like and what it involves.

They are looking for volunteers for their centre three hours per week and one overnight per month (where possible) to listen & provide emotional support to callers.For over 30 years, Samaritans have been active in the Sligo community. Ordinary people have become extraordin­ary by volunteeri­ng to keep Samaritans services available 24/7.

FAMILY CARERS IRELAND- SLIGO:

Family Carers Ireland is looking for Careline Volunteers. The Careline is a confidenti­al, friendly and supportive National Freephone. Careline offers informatio­n, guidance and a listening ear. Careline Volunteers will work remotely, from their own homes. Equipment to enable this will be provided by the organisati­on. Full training given in Sligo over the coming months, dates to be confirmed.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE SLIGO TOWN 2024:

Would you like to be part of a team walking with the parade to ensure it passes safely through the streets on March 17 in Sligo Town? Some volunteers will also be required to man junctionsY­ou will buddy up with an experience­d steward. There are refreshmen­ts afterwards!
