SAFE HANDS: Ciaran Cummins wins lineout possession for

Sligo’s second XV in their Connacht Junior Cup game at home to Buccaneers last Sunday. Sligo lost this game by 13 points, 19-6.

THREE Sligo teens won medals at the 123.ie National Indoor Combined Events Championsh­ips that took place at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena, Abbotstown.

Last Sunday Corran AC’s Ruby Cunnane took silver for finishing second overall in the Girls U-14 Pentathlon, with Nicole Flanagan, Sligo AC, also winning silver for her consistenc­y in the Girls U-15 Pentathlon.

Sligo’s third medal winner was Mila Clancy, a Corran AC competitor. Clancy claimed bronze in the Girls U-16 Pentathlon.

The pentathlon tested the competitor­s in five events, a mixture of track and field, as follows: 60 metres hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and 800 metres.

Ciara Scanlon (South Sligo AC) and Jasmine Sweeney (Sligo AC) took part in the Girls U-15 age group, with Sligo AC’s Lucie Cawley in the Girls U-16 events.

Also from Sligo AC at Abbotstown were Ross Campbell and Alastair Sheehan, both of Sligo AC, who were in the Boys U-16 Pentathlon.
