Sligo residents asked to help mend broken hearts in the Mater Hospital this Valentine’s season

THE Mater Hospital Foundation is calling on individual­s, communitie­s, schools, preschools and businesses across County Sligo to celebrate the Valentine’s season by wearing red this February and hosting their own Big Heart Appeal get-together, to support heart care in the Mater Public Hospital. There are so many ways to get involved. Make this a truly memorable Valentine’s Day and raise vital funds for patients with life-threatenin­g heart conditions:

Wear your heart on your sleeve Throw on your fanciest red attire and get together for a special

Galentine’s soirée or host an event and invite all your friends and family to dress up!

Paint the town red - Host a Big Heart themed breakfast, bake sale or brunch at home, in your workplace or in your school or preschool and invite everyone to join in the fun.

Make a splash for heart care - Do it your own way and help us raise awareness and vital funds to mend broken hearts this February. Valentine’s Day is on Wednesday, 14th February, but you can hold your own hearttheme­d event on any day in February that suits you best. Commenting on the Big Heart Appeal, Mary Moorhead, Chief Executive of the Mater Hospital Foundation says: “With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we are excited to invite you to take part in this important campaign. This spring, you can show some love for heart patients in the Mater Hospital by getting involved and joining our Big Heart Appeal crew. By taking part, you'll be helping us fund state-of-the-art genetic testing equipment to diagnose serious heart conditions and help save lives.”
