Sligo-based tech company launch easyto-use app targeted at local businesses

-

IN an era dominated by online giants, a Sligobased tech company is introducing Losume, a norm-breaking, remarkably low-tech platform that aims to simplify the shopping experience by sustainably connecting local consumers with nearby businesses.

Instead of buying online from a retail giant, Losume users will be able to share a screenshot or image, enabling businesses to alert consumers and fulfil the sale, keeping the revenue in the local economy.

Commenting, founder Ronan Gilroy from Grange, said: “Of course, every single request might not be met, but it offers indigenous traders a window into trending and otherwise invisible demands.

“Losume is more than a local omni-channel – it is a commitment to simplicity and community. Losume's mission is to empower the 80% of consumers who wish to support local businesses online and in doing so, boosting the confidence in smaller local enterprises.

“We designed it for normal people; only a two-minute setup for consumers, eight minutes was the average for businesses, as there's no uploading or maintenance of products, just a single swipe allows them to respond quickly to these local sales leads.

“For security and privacy, consumers can choose any username or nickname, their email remains confidential.

“Businesses remain unseen until they choose to respond to a suitable sale.”

FIRST LAUNCH

“Losume, will launch first in the Sligo County area, an initial group of different retailers are ready.

Users or ‘Losumers' should remember to allow time, it is the equivalent to walking into a business, where real local staff may be attending other customers, or in between displays, deliveries or other daily duty.

“A local economy sees on average 3.5 times more wealth when people buy from indigenous businesses.

“Losume is not just a shopping app, it is a commitment to revitalising local commerce.
