Table tennis roadshow is successful
SLIGO was enthralled by the Table Tennis Roadshow on Monday and Tuesday of last week.
This exciting initiative was hosted by Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership in partnership with Table Tennis Ireland.
The roadshow featured the expertise of Jing Yi Graham, a former professional table tennis player, Commonwealth Games athlete and coach, who brought passion and skills to 335 eager participants of all ages.
Taster sessions brought the fun and excitement of table tennis – a sport for all ages and abilities – to multiple venues throughout Sligo, including North Sligo Sports Centre (Grange), ATU Sligo’s Knocknarea Arena, Sligo Grammar School, Scoil Chroí Naofa (Bunninadden), Summerhill College, Rathcormac NS, Ursuline College, Coláiste Iascaigh, Easkey Enhancement Association (Easkey courthouse) and Sooey Community Hall. It was extra exciting for the pupils and staff of Rathcormac NS as they featured on a segment of Virgin Media One’s Ireland AM on Tuesday morning last. The special guest was Ireland AM presenter Deric Ó h’Artagáin, with the table tennis activities filmed live from Rathcormac and beamed to the nation.
Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership extended its gratitude to Jing Yi Graham of Table Tennis Ireland, for her engaging sessions and for making last week’s roadshow a tremendous success. Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership look forward to linking with communities, schools and clubs in future initiatives to promote the love of table tennis in the county.
