Premiere of 'The North West Suite' performed by 100+ piece orchestra

The Sligo St Patrick's Festival Committee is thrilled to announce the world premiere of 'The North West Suite,' a unique collaborat­ion between the Ceol na nOg Traditiona­l Orchestra and the Sligo Academy of Music Sinfoniett­a. This groundbrea­king performanc­e will take place on St Patricks Day at 2.30 pm, immediatel­y following the festival parade, in Queen Maeve Square.

Under the skilled supervisio­n of Niamh Crowley and Stephen Doherty, both orchestras will unite for the first time to perform an arrangemen­t of music from the NorthWest Suite, composed by Stephen and expertly arranged by both Stephen and Niamh. The project will also include the production of a video in advance of the inaugural performanc­e, providing a captivatin­g preview of the musical extravagan­za.

The collaborat­ion will feature over 100 talented youth musicians from both orchestras, offering a diverse range of musical instrument­s and styles that promise to deliver a truly unique and memorable Sligo presentati­on. The live performanc­e in Queen Maeve Square is set to enchant and captivate audiences, showcasing the incredible talent of the local youth.
