INFO WHATSAPP GROUP:

Like our Community Park, our Community Centre is a great asset to parish life. Both facilities frequently form the location for the main activities that take place in our community. Currently, a Used Clothes Collection is taking place in aid of Cloonacool Community Centre. The fundraiser runs every weekend in March

2024. Items accepted include:

Clean Clothes (in any condition), Handbags, Belts, Towels, Pairs of shoes, Ties, Curtains and Bed Linen. No duvets and Pillows! Leave bags in the main hall on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 10am and 2pm or anytime on a Monday and Tuesday. Contact Attracta on 086 3058844 to drop off any another day!

USED CLOTHES COLLECTION: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY:

These notes are being written on International Women’s Day and while the celebration will have passed by the time they are being read, it is still a good time to recognise the women in our lives; those here at home in our community and those of our sisters, daughters and granddaughters who may live in far-flung parts of the world.

Note that the times of masses on this day, Sunday, March 17, are changed from the usual times. Cloonacool mass will be at 11.30 on the day and Mass in Tubbercurry will be at 10am. This change is to facilitate the annual 5k road race taking place in Tubbercurry.

ST PATRICK’S DAY MASSES:

The day for North West Hospice, held in the Mill Community Café last Saturday, was a resounding success. A constant attendance throughout the morning and early afternoon ensured that the café was busy and that lots of money was donated. At present the amount raised is in excess of €2,220. Special thanks to all who contributed to the fundraiser; bakers, donors and the café itself.

The Mill Community

Café opens at the regular times each weekend; Fri 11am – 2pm and Sat and Sun 10am – 2pm. The café remains a warm meeting place and community hub and each weekend welcomes locals and visitors alike. The mill stone, so kindly donated by John Doyle to the community prior to his death, will soon be fully installed in its new space in the centre of the village. An unveiling of the stone will take place when all current landscaping is completed.

A new season of social dancing has begun at the Community Centre on each Thursday night. Start time, 8pm. This is a great chance to learn to dance and covers various dances such as waltz, quickstep and jive. Just turn up on the night… and bring your dancing shoes.

The Western

Drama Festival completed its programme of plays last weekend. The festival was a resounding success with some exceptional theatre on display to local audiences from drama groups from all over Ireland. A huge Well Done to the
