CLOONACOOL

- By Pat McCarrick

Like our Community Park, our Community Centre is a great asset to parish life. Both facilities frequently form the location for the main activities that take place in our community. Currently, a Used Clothes Collection is taking place in aid of Cloonacool Community Centre. The fundraiser runs every weekend in March

2024. Items accepted include:

Clean Clothes (in any condition), Handbags, Belts, Towels, Pairs of shoes, Ties, Curtains and Bed Linen. No duvets and Pillows! Leave bags in the main hall on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 10am and 2pm or anytime on a Monday and Tuesday. Contact Attracta on 086 3058844 to drop off any another day.

The Mill Community

Café opens at the regular times each weekend; Fri 11am – 2pm and Sat and Sun 10am – 2pm. The café remains a warm meeting place and community hub and each weekend welcomes locals and visitors alike. The mill stone, so kindly donated by John Doyle to the community prior to his death, will soon be fully installed in its new space in the centre of the village. An unveiling of the stone will take place when all current landscaping is completed.

Junior Cycle Irish Oral Revision Course: April 4, Hilary Room, Banada. Suitable for 2nd and 3rd Year students. Please contact Siobhán on 0876151581 for further information or to book a place.

The dates for the annual Cloonacool Sheep Festival have just been announced by the organising committee. They are Thursday, September 19 to Sunday, September 22.

The festival will have a full programme of events and activities to cater for all interests. More details to follow.
