ATU ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONVERSATI­ON PROGRAMME:

Due to the increase in demand for learning basic English we need volunteers to join our current team in providing an opportunit­y for non-native English speakers to start learning, or to improve their English language skills and local informatio­n.

Volunteers are needed in ATU Sligo Saturday mornings 11-1pm and in Rosses Point (Yeats Hotel) Thursday evenings 7-9pm. You will be asked to support people speak and learn English in an informal, friendly atmosphere.

Riverstown Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann presents Ryan Sheridan, Conor McDonagh, Sinead Johnston and Conor Connolly in concert on Saturday, April 20 in the Morrison Cottage, Riverstown at 8.30pm. Enniscrone Bridge

Club hosted the Freeman Trophy Competitio­n over two nights on February 14 and 21. There was a great turnout on both nights with 30 members participat­ing, 7.5 tables. Two very enjoyable nights of Bridge playing were had by all and the overall winner was Francis Walkin.

A Family Fun Car Treasure Hunt takes place on Monday, April 1 leaving The Castle Inn, Easkey between 3 and 3.30pm. Walkers return to The Castle Inn for lots of prizes followed by a music session. Organisers would be grateful if you could support and spread the word about this fundraiser for the upcoming county fleadh which will take place in Easkey again this year. Promises to be a fun day for all!

Enniscrone and District Community Council congratula­te Tony Connaughto­n who acted as Grand Marshal at this year’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Tony is a long serving member of the community council and a former chairman.

(91) passed away peacefully at his residence following a short illness and surrounded by his loving family. Predecease­d by his wife Shirley, sons baby Anthony and Michael, daughters Mary (Breen) and Shirley (Hunt), grandchild­ren John Lynagh and Natalie McGuinness and sisters Molly Sheridan and Kathleen Baldock and extended family members.

Our sincere condolence­s also to the family and friends of the late John McDermott of Faranoo, Ballina, Co. Mayo and formerly of Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, who passed away peacefully at Mayo Roscommon Hospice following a short illness surrounded by his family. John was predecease­d by his baby daughter Deirdre, his parents Michael and Mary, brother Eddie, brothers-in-law Mike McGowan and Jerry Reynolds.

Beloved husband of Mary and dear father of Louise (Shrule),

Congratula­tions to all involved in the Castleconn­or Amateur Dramatics Society the cast and crew of this play “The Country Boy” for their fantastic performanc­e and the work they put into it, also to the family of John Murphy, the author of the play, who gave lots of insights into his life, and even a few props in the form of pictures!!

Eoghan Rua Ladies Football Club wish to thank Pat Spillane and his wife Rosarri for travelling all the way from the Kingdom to celebrate a big night with them. Pat gave a lovely speech to all expressing his enjoyment for Ladies Gaelic Football and commented on how he’d even been following our progress on Facebook! Jnr since he joined the Sligo GAA team. Martin Seery also said a few words congratula­ting the club on its achievemen­ts for 2023. Scruffy Duffy was the highlight of the night and kept the crowd hopping with all sorts of competitio­ns and songs! Our u12 girls also known as the Superstars were on top of chairs the whole night getting the crowd going!

The rosary is recited in Enniscrone Church from 9am each weekday morning before 9.30am Mass. All are invited. Volunteers needed to help arrange Church flowers in both Kilglass and Enniscrone Churches: Our Parish is seeking volunteers who would be willing to help arrange fresh flowers for Easter and other times of the year.
