Jodie Loughrey plays her part in qualifiers
Sligo Rovers senior women’s player Jodie Loughrey helped the Republic of Ireland women’s U-19 team qualify for this summer’s UEFA Women’s Under-19 European Championship finals tournament in Lithuania.
The Republic of Ireland topped a four-team qualifying in Croatia. They defeated Iceland 4-1 on Wednesday of last week and were 1-0 winners over Austria last Saturday – a result that secured the nation’s ticket to the UEFA Women’s Under-19 European Championship finals for the first time since 2014. A third successive win in Group A2 was achieved on Tuesday of this week when qualifying group hosts Croatia were beaten 3-0. Midfielder Loughrey, who hails from Buncrana, Co. Donegal, scored a second-half goal against Iceland, played the full game against Austria and featured for the second-half in the win over Croatia.
Rovers’ AGM is taking place on April 23
Sligo Rovers Football Club – Sligo Football and Sport Development Society Ltd – are holding its annual general meeting on Tuesday, April 23, at the Clayton Hotel, Sligo town.
This AGM, which has a 7.30pm start, will elect a new Management Committee for 2024. The treasurer’s report for the last 12 months will be presented to those in attendance as well as reports from the secretary and CEO, plus the chairman’s address. Only full paid up members of the club can attend the AGM along with those who have the privileges of members (according to society rules).
