All teams who have pre-registered by April 18th and who have raised €1,000 will be entered into a raffle on the launch night to win €500.

Local personalities will be taking part in a range of events from the show so there will be great entertainment and a chance to meet celebrity guests.

Sligo’s Fittest Superstars will see Davy Fitz bring some of the most-loved apparatus from Ireland’s Fittest Family’s challenging obstacle race for Sligo teams to attempt.

Teams of four will face off in an exhilarating race through some of the most-watched events from Ireland’s Fittest Family.

The event is being organised by Mercy College Sligo to raise funds for a new multi-sports astro facility which will revolutionise access to sport for all students of the school and for the wider community.

ORGAN Donor Awareness Week starts on Saturday and in conjunction with this the Sligo branch of the Irish Kidney Association will be spreading awareness of organ donation.

‘Don't Leave Your Loved Ones in Doubt' is the theme of this year's campaign.

The key message is that members of the public can increase organ transplantation by ensuring that their families are not left in any doubt about their wishes around organ donation.

Chairman of the Sligo Branch IKA Sean Fowley said: “Sharing your wishes when you are in good health makes it a less stressful decision for your family in the event of them being approached about you being a potential organ donor. Have that

conversation.”

During Organ Donation Awareness Week the Sligo IKA branch will be engaging in a number of activities. Among these activities will be visits to sports clubs in the area where they will deliver the organ donation message and circulate organ donor cards.

The branch will distribute ‘Don't Leave Your Loved Ones in Doubt' posters to Sligo doctors' waiting rooms.

There are currently 62 patients on kidney dialysis in Sligo University Hospital with many of them waiting for that all-important phone call of a ‘gift of life' transplant.

Nationally, there are up to 600 people on waiting lists for organ transplants including kidney, heart, lung, liver and pancreas.
