50 women conquer the hills of Slish Wood in run two of the IMRA Women’s Trail Series

-

THE second event of the IMRA Sligo Women’s Trail Series in partnership with Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership was held under scorching sunshine amidst the hills of Slish Wood on April 21 last.

The course kicked off with a challenging 1.5km ascent towards Lough Lumman before transitioning into a single track with occasional muddy patches leading towards the lake.

Fifty women embraced the challenge and were thrilled to reach the picturesque turnaround point of the lake signalling a pleasant downhill return to the finish line on this ‘out and back’ course.

These events offer a fantastic sporting opportunity for women to explore the world of trail running in a relaxed setting where no times are recorded, catering for joggers and walkers alike.

The runs are held in the exact same format as other IMRA trail running event just without recorded times. The goal is to support women to gain the confidence to transition over to the IMRA West League that will see 11 events running between May and August this year.

The women’s series will conclude with the final event at Union Wood this Sunday, April 28 at 10am.

It presents another chance to experience trail running, traverse hills and forest trails as the route winds its way through the serene woods of Union. Don’t miss out and book a place at https://www.imra.ie/events.

For everyone else interested in trying out trail running, the IMRA West league will resume in May.

These events are open to all participants aged 6 years and above. Stay updated on upcoming events at www.imra.ie/leagues/view/id/376/ or follow IMRA West on Facebook and Instagram.
