Cloonacool Community Centre and Cloonacool Sheep Festival joint committies will host a public meeting in Cloonacool Community Centre on this Friday, April 26 at 9pm. The meeting is being called to discuss the possibilit­y of the community buying a plot of land that has become available adjacent to the Community Centre. All are welcome to attend.

Emma Kilcoyne (daughter of Aidan and Mary), is heading off later in the summer to undertake some charity work with underprivi­leged communitie­s in Fiji. The Mill Café have decided to donate the takings of the café on Saturday, May 4. Additional donations for Emma’s fund are also welcomed on that day. Our community are always proud to see our young people show a helping hand in places of need around the world. The café opens at the regular times each weekend; Friday 11am – 2pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am – 2pm. Entrance to the café, which is now fully wheelchair accessible, is through the new porch.

Use Clothes Collection for the Community Centre is now at an end. There was a great response to the appeal and the Community Centre committee are very grateful to all who contribute­d bags of clothes.

Local music aficionado, Chris Stapleton, is hosting a concert at Murphy’s Hotel on Wed 1st of May next. The show will feature top-notch folk musicians Ger O Donnell and Trevor Sexton. Doors 7pm. Tickets are €20 and available from the hotel or you can phone 071 918 5598 to book. This promises to be a great night with a strong Cloonacool Flavour.

The regular ‘25’ card game continues in the Community Centre each Monday evening. The is a worthwhile and continuous fundraiser for our Community Centre. Special thanks to all who attend on a regular basis and there is always a welcome for ne3w players.

To Coolaney United Under-13 football boys team who won the league and they were undeafeate­d in the eleven games played. Well done to all the players and to the management of David Ross and Trevor Mc Guinn on a truly great achievemnt and are looking forward to a bright future with lots more to come.

Coolaney Junior and Senior Foroige Club are holding a fundraiser and raffle, Bake Sale takes place on March 3 from 11 am to 1 pm in the community centre Coolaney. Big Prizes: over 800 hundred euro in prizes and the first prize will be €200. This fundraiser is to raise much needed funds for the cub activities throughout the year. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.
