YOUR COMMUNITY NOTES:

The public meeting held on Friday evening last to discuss the possibilit­y of the community buying an adjacent plot of land was well attended and hugely positive. As a result, the ambition remains alive. The organising committee is very heartened by the response and now has renewed energy to achieve its goal on behalf of the whole community.

PUBLIC MEETING:

Emma Kilcoyne (daughter of Aidan and Mary), is heading off later in the summer to undertake some charity work with underprivi­leged communitie­s in Fiji. The Mill Café have decided to donate the takings of the café on Saturday 4th of May. Additional donations for Emma’s fund are also welcomed on that day. Our community are always proud to see our young people show a helping hand in places of need around the world. The café opens at the regular times each weekend; Fri 11am – 2pm and Sat and Sun 10am – 2pm. Entrance to the café, which is now fully wheelchair accessible, is through the new porch.

The following is the result of the recent Community Park Lottos in March and April. There no jackpot winner in March. The following were winners of match 3 numbers: Graham Doyle and

The date for the celebratio­n of First Holy Communion for the children of the parish takes place in Cloonacool on Saturday, May 11 at 11am. Best wishes to the children involved and special thanks to Fr. Sherlock and the teachers in St Michael’s NS for this work.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION:

Gaelic for Mother’s & Others with CT Gaels is returning for 2024. New or returning for another season, please drop a text to Shauna 087 1002714. There are great benefits including, get fit, learn a new skill, fun and friendly, social aspect, noncompeti­tive, no football experience needed, do as much as you can. The only restrictio­n is, you must not be currently playing Gaelic football competitiv­ely. Training will be once a week. We look forward to seeing you.

Church Gurteen with thirty nine young people for the Sacrament. The Bishop of Achonry Bishop

Paul Dempsey adminstere­d the Sacrament at the 11.30am Mass assisted by Fr. Joe Caulfield P.P. and Fr. Frank O’Grady, a native of Gurtten. This was one of the Bishop’s last ceremonies in the Diocese as he is transferre­d to the Diocese of Dublin. Well done to the Pupils, parents , sponsors, teachers and Fr Joe and to all who prepared them for their Confirmati­on.
