Yama Hara Gymnastics Club achieve success at a national competitio­n

SLIGO’S Yama Hara Gymnastics Club had a wonderful weekend at the recent Gymnastics Ireland GymSTART floor and vault competitio­n that took place at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Blanchards­town.

Yama Hara members excelled at this national event – the Sligo group of 47 gymnasts brought 22 medals back to Sligo. This haul included 11 individual gold medals, six silver and five bronze. The progressiv­e club also won bronze in the overall team section.

There were over 900 competitor­s from gymnastics clubs all over Ireland at the Dublin venue for the GymSTART floor and vault competitio­n.

“The [Yama Hara Gymnastics Club] members left an enduring mark on the competitio­n and demonstrat­ed their exceptiona­l skills and commitment to the sport,” said a statement from the club.

“Their hard work and dedication paid off as they clinched an impressive number of medals across various categories.”

“Additional­ly, they achieved three fourth places, two fifth places and five sixth places, further cementing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the [national] gymnastics arena.”

Yama Hara Gymnastics Club coaches Blathnaid Quinn, Sharon Melly, Ruth Kennedy and Clare Johnson were delighted at the club’s achievemen­ts last month, hailing the dedication, hard work and team spirit exuded by club members at the GymSTART floor and vault competitio­n.

Quinn said: “It is truly remarkable to witness the hard work and talent of our gymnasts, and how that translated into such outstandin­g results.

“They have shown incredible determinat­ion and skill – we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them.”

Yama Hara Gymnastics Club is based at the Cleveragh Industrial Estate in Sligo town.
