Sticking with the flower-power theme, Jo Malone’s latest launch is the Peony & Blush Suede Collection, available from Brown Thomas.

Inspired by the Cecil Beaton era, so imbued with Forties high glamour, this is what I call a luxurious, ladylike scent.

A fresh floral with top notes of red apple, a heart note of peony and the sweetness of honey, all perfectly balanced out with the unexpected twist of suede in the base.

Suede? While we’re really used to leather in fragrances, suede is the softer, friendlier sister. It dries down to a musky finish as it settles down onto the skin.

Obvs, it’s divine worn by itself, but layering scents is Jo Malone’s biggie, so I suggest pairing it with other Jo Malone scents like English Pear & Freesia for a wonderfully juicy, smooth touch or try Orange Blossom for a full-on tuttifrutti high.

Saffron works very well, giving a magnificent mix of sweetness with an intense spice.

The collection is comprised of a cologne, left, from €48; body creme, €62; body and hand wash, €42; and a home candle, €50.
