MY BREAKTHROUGH MOMENT

Sunday Independent (Ireland) - Life - - STYLE NOTEBOOK -

ANNMARIE O’CONNOR Author, The Happy Closet The moment I realised I was making it in my dream career was when I got my book deal for The Happy Closet. It had previously been rejected by several publishers and agents who couldn’t get behind the concept of mindfulness and fashion.

When the last rejection didn’t phase me (the others were like crazy sucker

punches), I knew I was on to something. The Happy Closet and its message almost felt bigger than me. The next email pitch I sent was to Gill Books, who agreed to meet me to discuss my proposal. When I discovered they wanted to publish the book, it was such a crowning moment and validated both the idea and my determination to see it through. I’m currently working on my second book, but that moment is one I’ll never forget.
