Presumably it was ‘The Lady In Green’ who greeted Chris de Burgh when he flew to London last weekend. An Aer Lingus air hostess, sillies.

The trip to London was to celebrate the singer’s 70th birthday. It was marked with a big dinner in Greek restaurant Halepi in Leinster Terrace last Monday night attended by wife Diane, daughter Rosanna and the rest of their family. (They all stayed in the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington.)

Did Chris, high on emotion, sing on the night? “There was no singing,” former Miss World, Rosanna Davison, told me, “apart from us singing Happy Birthday when his cake arrived! It was brilliant to get the whole family together to celebrate his milestone birthday. My dad is still young at heart and full of energy. So he’s fully embracing turning 70.”

Rosanna, for the record, is 34. Is she embracing that age, too? “I’m absolutely loving my thirties,” says Rosanna, adding proudly that husband Wesley Quirke launched his new venture last Friday: the Carlton Casino Club on O’connell Street. “It’s a sophisticated art deco-style live gaming casino club with a poker parlour in the heart of Dublin.” Say what you like about Rosanna Davison, but she doesn’t have a poker face.
