Five-timer for El­liott and John­son

GOR­DON El­liott and Richard John­son teamed up to claim a 98-1 five-timer at Perth yes­ter­day.

The Ir­ish han­dler is a reg­u­lar vis­i­tor to the Scot­tish cir­cuit and along with the cham­pion jockey, he en­joyed an­other ex­cel­lent day at the of­fice.

Make My Heart Fly (4-1) got the af­ter­noon off to a flyer with a 16-length romp in the first di­vi­sion of the three­mile hand­i­cap hur­dle. The Cul­len­tra han­dler and John­son also landed the sec­ond di­vi­sion with King’s Song (13-8), while Galvin jus­ti­fied 1-4 favouritism in the two-mile maiden hur­dle in be­tween.

Cubo­ma­nia (11-4) en­sured El­liott and John­son won the first four races of the day with vic­tory in the novices’ hand­i­cap chase, but they suf­fered their first re­verse af­ter High Ex­pec­ta­tions was nar­rowly beaten in the fol­low­ing two-mile hand­i­cap hur­dle.

Any­time Now was third as the 7-4 favourite for the two-and-a-half-mile hand­i­cap hur­dle be­fore Car­rie Des Champs (8-13 favourite) en­sured the team ended the day with a win­ner af­ter saun­ter­ing clear in the con­clud­ing mares’ bumper.
