Bad Neighbours (2014) Channel 4, 9pm Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne

star as a happy couple who are looking to sell their house, but panic when a fraternity moves in next door. Although they originally try to get along with their new neighbours, the pair realise that they will have to play dirty if they are to scare the frat pack away. However, they aren’t expecting the retaliatio­n that follows. Zac Efron also stars. Prisoners (2013) TV3, 9pm Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis star. Keller Dover is devastated when his six-year-old daughter and her friend are kidnapped. The police’s only lead is the driver of a suspicious van that was seen in the neighbourh­ood, but the authoritie­s have to let him go because of a lack of evidence. Stricken with grief, Keller takes matters into his own hands in order to find out what really happened to his missing daughter. Terrence Howard and Paul Dano also star. MONDAY Lifeboat (1944) More4, 11.40am Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix and Walter Slezak star in Alfred Hitchcock’s Oscarnomin­ated wartime thriller. A ship is involved in a battle with a German U-boat at the height of the Second World War. A handful of survivors make it to a small boat for safety. Tensions rise when they pull another survivor from the sea, only to discover that he is part of the enemy crew. Star Trek (2009) Sky 1, 9pm JJ Abrams’s reboot, of the beloved sci-fi series, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg. Following in his father’s footsteps, James Kirk joins the ranks of Starfleet, with the dream of quickly rising through the ranks. His trigger-happy and reckless ways soon land him in trouble, as a Romulan threat travels through time to destroy the Federation. Eric Bana, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana also star. Alexander (2004) TG4, 9.30pm Oliver Stone’s historical epic drama, starring Colin Farrell, Angelina Jolie and Anthony Hopkins. The young prince who would become known as Alexander the Great becomes king of Macedonia after his father is assassinat­ed. He uses his new power and influence to begin military campaigns that would see him conquer much of the known world.

TUESDAY

Stalag 17 (1953) More4, 11.15am Second World War drama, starring William Holden, Don Taylor and Otto Preminger. Two American airmen are killed while attempting to escape from their prisoner-of-war camp. This quickly leads to suspicions growing among the remaining prisoners, with the camp’s opportunis­tic black marketeer soon getting the blame for being an informer to the Nazis. The Wolf Of Wall Street (2013) Film4, 9pm Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning drama, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie. The true story of Jordan Belfort, a driven stockbroke­r who went from nothing to heading up a corrupt Wall Street empire. However, his life of success and excess comes at a price, and he is soon investigat­ed by the authoritie­s over his dodgy dealings. Matthew McConaughe­y, and Jon Bernthal also star. The Final Destinatio­n (2009) Film4, 12.30am David R Ellis directs the fourth instalment of the horror franchise, starring Bobby Campo, Shantel VanSanten and Nick Zano. Following a premonitio­n of a deadly disaster at a race course, Nick saves a group of his friends, moments before the accident takes place. However, Death will not be cheated, and one by one the survivors begin to die in grisly scenarios.

WEDNESDAY

Little Fockers (2010) RTE1, 9.35pm Comedy, starring Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Robert De Niro. After years of uncertaint­y between father and son-in-law Jack and Greg, the two finally seem to be on stronger terms. However, when Jack looks to appoint a successor in the family, Greg gets placed under the microscope once again, and a series of misunderst­andings soon lead to consequenc­es. Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand also star. What Doesn’t Kill You (2008) BBC1, 12.10am Ethan Hawke, Mark Ruffalo and Amanda Peet star in the crime drama. Lifelong friends Brian and Paulie turn to a life of crime when things get tough on their South Boston streets. However, things soon take a turn when Paulie leaves lawbreakin­g behind him to start a family, creating friction between the pair. Chocolat (2000) Channel 4, 1.30am Lasse Hallström’s romantic drama, starring Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench and Alfred Molina. A single mother and her daughter looking for a new start settle in a small French village during Lent. They soon open a chocolate shop, much to the shock of the community. However, once word starts to spread about the mouth-watering products, the villagers soon start giving in to temptation. Thursday True Grit (1969) More4, 11.05am John Wayne heads up the cast of this classic western, which won him his only Oscar. After her father is gunned down by an outlaw, young woman Mattie Ross hires an alcoholic marshall, Rooster Cogburn, to track the man down. Things get complicate­d when they meet up with Texas Ranger La Boeuf, who is also on the killer’s trail. Together, they all seek justice for their own reasons. Legend (1985) Film4, 7.10pm Tom Cruise, Mia Sara and Tim Curry star in Ridley Scott’s fantasy adventure. Jack sets out on the adventure of a lifetime when he must rescue Lili, the woman he loves, after she is kidnapped by the evil Darkness. On his quest he discovers that the sinister creature is also trying to destroy daylight forever by killing the last unicorn, which Jack cannot allow, leaving him the world’s only hope. Prometheus (2012) Film4, 9pm Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron star in Ridley Scott’s prequel to the Alien franchise. A group of archaeolog­ists decipher a series of clues that they think are from an alien race, leading them to journey across space to the planet mentioned in their message. On arrival, they discover a number of unnatural structures, but their excitement soon turns to terror when they unleash the horrors hidden deep within the building’s vaults. Idris Elba and Guy Pearce also star. Friday Robin hood (2010) TV3, 9pm Ridley Scott’s action drama, starring Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett and Matthew Macfadyen. Following the death of the King of England, Robin Longstride and a few of his companions return home from the Crusades. Travelling to Nottingham, he soon discovers that the people there are under the corrupt control of a sinister sheriff, which sparks a battle for justice. Forgetting sarah Marshall (2008) RTE2, 9.30pm Comedy, starring Jason Segel, Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis. Peter is heartbroke­n when he finds out that his girlfriend has been cheating on him. Deciding that he needs to get away from it for a while, he goes to Hawaii for a holiday, unaware that Sarah and her new rockstar boyfriend are staying in the room next door. Trying to make the most of it, he befriends Rachel, who works in the hotel lobby, and the two soon begin to fall in love. Russell Brand also stars. Basic Instinct (1992) Channel 4, 12.05am Thriller, starring Michael Douglas, Sharon Stone and Jeanne Tripplehor­n. Crime writer Catherine Tramell is suspected of killing her boyfriend after he is found murdered in a manner that duplicates a scene from her latest novel. The detective put in charge of the investigat­ion thinks that she may have been framed, but when the two begin a seductive, self-destructiv­e affair, the lines soon become blurred when it comes to her innocence. Saturday Legally Blonde 2: red, White & Blonde (2003) RTE2, 1.50pm Reese Witherspoo­n stars in the comedy sequel. Elle Woods is fired by her law firm because of her stance on animal testing, which gives her the idea of taking her fight against the issue to Capitol Hill. She becomes an aide to a congresswo­man, quickly learning how to make it in the fast-moving world of politics, in her own unique way. Maleficent (2014) RTE1, 6.35pm Fantasy adventure, starring Angelina Jolie (left). It’s the story of Sleeping Beauty’s villain like you’ve never seen her before. After she is scorned by the kingdom she calls home, a dark fairy places a curse on the king’s daughter Aurora, only to find that the princess is the only person capable of bringing peace.
