5 FUTURISTIC GADGETS TO CONSIDER

-

1 DYSON 360 EYE, €999 This vacuum cleaner gets around on tread-style wheels (like a caterpillar machine), which help it to move over things such as cables and the edges of rugs without being blocked. The device has a camera and sensors and goes for 40 minutes between charges.

2 BELKIN WEMO SWITCH, €40 The smart plug uses your home wi-fi to let you decide (via your phone) when the device attached to it, such as a TV or lamp, should be turned on and off. Control it via the Wemo app, which you can download on to your smartphone for free. The switch is available at Belkin.com.

3 SAMSUNG FAMILY HUB REFRIGERATOR, €4,149 It has an eye-watering price, but this internet fridge works.

Its three cameras send a photo to your phone to show you what is left in your fridge every time the door closes. It also has a 21-inch, web-connected screen on the front for grocery ordering and research for recipes.

4 NEST CAM SMART, €199 This wide-angle, high-definition security camera activates as soon as it detects any movement, sending your phone an alert with footage of the incident. Cleverly, the activity is recorded online so that thieves can’t hide the evidence. It’s available at Harvey Norman.

5 GOOGLE HOME, €150 The voice-activated speaker will be launched in the coming months and is billed as the search giant’s answer to the Amazon Echo (which isn’t available here). The device responds to voice commands for searches and can operate other web-connected devices around the home.
