However, disaster strikes, and a series of lifethreat­ening incidents leave them stranded without contact to mission control below. Now they must find a way to work together if they are going to survive. Foxcatcher (2014) BBC2, 9pm Tense drama, starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. Unhinged multimilli­onaire John du Pont looks to put together a team of top amateur wrestlers to compete at the 1988 Olympic Games at Seoul, South Korea. He wants brothers Mark and Dave Schultz on the team, but trainer Dave is uncertain. What follows is a slow, dangerous descent towards paranoia for all three men. the Devil Wears PraDa (2006) RTE1, 9.30pm Comedy, starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. A young journalist lands her big break as an assistant to a notoriousl­y merciless fashion magazine editor. From the moment she steps through the door, Andy feels that her new boss is out to watch her fail, so she goes to any length to keep her position. Date NiGht (2010) TV3, 9pm Comedy, starring Steve Carell, Tina Fey and Mark Wahlberg. Phil and Claire are a couple who are worried that the spark is fading from their marriage. To try and liven things up they go on a lavish date night, but a mistaken identity sees them land in bother with mob hitmen. The criminals think that the couple are their latest targets, leaving Phil and Claire running for their lives in a desperate attempt to prove their innocence.

MONDAY

the iNterNshiP (2013) RTE2, 9pm Comedy, starring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson and Rose Byrne. Billy and Nick are two salesmen who find themselves down on their luck when their careers take a nosedive. In an attempt to catch up with the digital age, the pair manage to claim positions as interns at Internet behemoth Google. However, they soon find out that their old-fashioned methods have left them behind with the times. crazy, stuPiD, love (2011) TG4, 9.30pm Comedy, starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Julianne Moore. Cal is shaken when his wife asks for a divorce. Unsure as to where this leaves him, he thinks it’s time to reconnect and put himself back on the market. Seeking the help of his new, younger friend Jacob, he attempts to come to terms with pitfalls of modern-day dating. craNk (2006) ITV4, 10pm Action, starring Jason Statham, Amy Smart and Jose Pablo Cantillo. Hitman Chev Chelios finds himself in serious trouble when he is poisoned by the dangerous criminal Verona. Chen is advised by his doctor friend that in order to fight the deadly toxin he has to keep his adrenaline levels pumping at all times. This sends him on a full-speed, city-wide thrill ride to track Verona and find a cure.

TUESDAY

orDiNary DeceNt crimiNal (2000) TV3, 9pm Crime comedy, starring Kevin Spacey, Linda Fiorentino and Peter Mullan. Michael Lynch is something of a Robin Hood figure, with his daring robberies being the bane of the Gardai and making him a hero to the people of Dublin. However, his number might be up when Garda Noel Quigley steps up his attempts to catch Lynch. aWake (2007) ITV4, 10.05pm Thriller, starring Hayden Christense­n, Jessica Alba (below) and Terrence Howard. Clay Beresford is set to have lifesaving heart surgery. However, the anaestheti­c that is used on him fails and he is left in a state of awareness, unable to tell anyone that he can hear everything going on around him. Things take a further turn when he overhears a plot by the medical staff that could result in his murder.

WEDNESDAY

meN iN Black ii (2002) Film4, 9pm Sci-fi comedy, starring Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith and Rosario Dawson. J has become one of the top agents at Men in Black (MIB), the secret organisati­on that polices alien activity on Earth. However, when the planet is threatened by an extraterre­strial sinister seductress, only his old partner K can save the day. Now he has to find a way to return the retired agent’s memories of his time with MIB if they are to find the key to stopping the evil alien. rise oF the PlaNet oF the aPes (2011) Film4, 10.40pm Sci-fi action, starring James Franco and Andy Serkis. Scientist Will is attempting to find a cure for Alzheimer’s, when his scientific experiment leaves one of the test apes with heightened intelligen­ce. He raises the animal, naming him Caesar. However, the world is not as accepting of Caesar’s remarkable gift as Will, and after a dangerous incident he is sent to live in an ape sanctuary. It is there that he sees the real cruelty of humans and decides to fight back.

ThUrSDAY

Dracula uNtolD (2014) RTE2, 9pm Fantasy adventure, starring Luke Evans, Dominic Cooper and Charles Dance. Prince Vlad looks to live a peaceful life as the leader of a small kingdom. However, all this is shattered when a notorious Ottoman warlord arrives, demanding the kingdom’s children — including Vlad’s son — for his army. Desperate for a way to fight back, Vlad goes deep into the mountains where an ancient evil dwells. He pays a horrifying price in exchange for the ability to fight off the invading threat. DaWN oF the PlaNet oF the aPes (2014) Film4, 9pm Sci-fi sequel, starring Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Andy Serkis. The race of intelligen­t apes has taken control, driving the humans closer to desperatio­n. A chance meeting between ape leader Caesar and a small group of human survivors sees him begin to question whether or not his race can trust people again. Meanwhile, a defiant simian sees himself as a better leader, as the head of a small human battalion makes his own plans to strike.

What haPPeNs iN veGas (2008) TV3, 9pm Entertaini­ng comedy, starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. Joy and Jack are shocked to wake up after a night in Sin City to find out that they got married. To make matters even worse they won big while gambling together, and to legally hold onto the money they need to live as a married couple for a short period of time. Can they pull it off ? NoBle (2014) RTE1, 9.35pm Stephen Bradley’s drama, starring Deirdre O’Kane and Sarah Greene. Young Christina Noble travels from her home in Ireland to Vietnam, which has faced huge changes in the fallout of the war. It is there that she goes about changing the lives of countless children forever. mystic river (2003) RTE2, 9.40pm Clint Eastwood’s drama, starring Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Kevin Bacon. Three men who faced a horrible crisis together as children are thrown back into each others’ lives after one of them is accused of killing the other’s daughter, and the third is the detective assigned to the case. BlaDes oF Glory (2007) BBC1, 11.05pm Comedy, with Will Ferrell, Jon Heder, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett. Two rival Olympic ice skaters are stripped of their medals and banned from the singles competitio­n after their bickering causes a scene. However, they find a technical loophole that means they can compete as a pair. All they have to do is find a way to work together.

He is rescued by the unorthodox Comanche Tonto, and the duo decide to go after the criminals in the name of justice. the huNGer Games (2012) Channel 4, 10.00pm Sci-fi adventure starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. In a dystopian future, Katniss Everdeen, a poor resident of Panem — a nation governed by a controllin­g elite — enters a purpose-built arena to fight to the death with other ‘tributes’ from neighbouri­ng nations. However, things are complicate­d by another competitor.
