EPIC (2013) Channel 4, 3.15pm Animation, with the voices of Amanda Seyfried, Josh

Hutcherson and Beyonce. A young girl is shrunk down to a tiny size and discovers that the forest is full of characters who are tied up in a battle of good and evil. She bands together with a rag-tag group who find themselves on a mission to save their world from a sinister force.

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (2002) BBC2, 5.45pm Steven Spielberg’s drama, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks

and Christophe­r Walken. Young Frank Abagnale Jr is raised by a father who is in trouble with the IRS and losing everything. In order to pay it back Frank runs away, looking to earn his fortune. This leads him on a winding road of fraud that sees him make a lot of money, but also has the authoritie­s hot on his heels.

BROOKLYN (2015) BBC1, 8.30pm Romantic drama, with Saoirse Ronan (right), Emory Cohen and

Domhnall Gleeson. Eilis is an Irish immigrant who travels to Brooklyn in the 1950s. During her time there she meets and falls in love with a local guy. However, her happiness is put at stake when her past catches up with her, leaving young Eilis with a heartbreak­ing decision to make.

THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING (2014) ITV3, 10pm Biographic­al drama, starring Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, David Thewlis and Emily Watson. Cosmology student Stephen Hawking meets and falls in love with art student Jane Wilde while they are both studying at Cambridge University. However, tragedy strikes when he is diagnosed with a life-threatenin­g condition. Now they must adjust to a drasticall­y different life than the one they thought they would have together, as his research and demands begin to put a serious strain on their marriage.

MONDAY

THE PRINCESS DIARIES (2001) RTE1, 3.40pm Disney’s family comedy, starring Julie Andrews, Anne Hathaway

and Hector Elizondo. Mia is an average girl living her life when she discovers that she is actually the heir-apparent to the throne of the small kingdom of Genovia. She must now be taught how to pass for a member of the royal family by her sophistica­ted grandmothe­r.

GHOSTBUSTE­RS II (1989) Sky One, 8pm Comedy, starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. The team of supernatur­al experts face lawsuits and bankruptcy as a result of their actions. However, a new wave of strange goings-on see them back in business. They must discover what nasty spirit is targeting Dana and her baby, and stop it before it strikes. Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis also feature in the cast. TED 2 (2015) RTE1, 9.30pm Comedy, starring Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth and the voice of Seth MacFarlane. Living teddy bear Ted marries the love of his life Tami-Lynn and wants to start a family with her. However, the law declares that he can’t because he doesn’t legally qualify as being a person. Teaming with old pal John and up-and-coming lawyer Samantha, Ted looks to prove once and for all that he has a soul.

TUESDAY

PURSUIT (2015) TV3, 9pm Paul Mercier’s modern-day adaptation of the ancient Irish legend of Diarmuid and Gráinne, starring Ruth Bradley, Barry Ward, Liam Cunningham and

Brendan Gleeson. The daughter of a major player in the criminal underworld is to marry a great warrior as a sign of an alliance between them. However, things take a turn after she falls in love with her betrothed’s most loyal companion and her actions cause things to spiral out of control.

THE SECOND BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL (2015) Film4, 9pm Comedy sequel, starring Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill

Nighy and Dev Patel. Sonny is over the moon at the success of his hotel venture. This prompts him to push forward with his plans to open a second establishm­ent, which leads to trouble in every aspect of his life.

WEDNESDAY

ABOUT A BOY (2002) Film4, 6.55pm Touching comedy, starring Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult and

Toni Collette. Detached cynical bachelor Will finds himself becoming the reluctant father figure to 12-year-old Marcus after the child struggles to keep his clinically depressed mother from completely falling apart.

THE WOLVERINE (2013) Film4, 9pm Superhero action, starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee and Tao Okamoto. Logan is summoned to Japan where he is given a tempting offer by an old acquaintan­ce, who believes he can cure him of his mutation. The clawed hero agrees, but soon finds himself caught up in a dastardly and dangerous plot that he must unravel without his powers.

LOVE & OTHER DRUGS (2010) Channel 4, 1.55am Romantic drama, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and

Judy Greer. Maggie is suffering from Parkinson’s when she meets the charming Jamie through his job as a pharmaceut­icals sales rep. They are both a little shocked to discover that they are falling in love with each other.

THURSDAY

THE DICTATOR (2012) ITV4, 11pm Comedy, starring Sacha Baron Cohen, Anna Faris, John C Reilly and Ben Kingsley. Eccentric ruler Aladeen is a hapless tyrant, who is unaware that his country is run by the shady figures underneath him. They plan to eliminate him while on a diplomatic trip to America, but it goes wrong and he escapes. Now on the run, he and a free-spirited local woman must somehow find a way to put things right.

BRIDAL WAVE (2015) TG4, 11.40pm Romantic comedy, with Arielle Kebbel, Andrew W Walker and David Haydn-Jones. Nurse Georgie Dwyer is about to marry her fiancé, who she thinks is the man of her dreams. However, a chance encounter with a handsome stranger right before her big day has her question everything she knows about love.

FRIDAY

CRAZY, STUPID LOVE (2011) ITV2, 8pm Romantic comedy, starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone. Cal thinks that he has his life in order, when all of a sudden his wife asks for a divorce. He is left devastated and unsure about what to do next. He soon befriends Jacob, a younger guy who agrees to help him get back on his feet and into dating. The only problem is that Cal is going to need to learn a lot about the art of talking to women.

RIPD (2013) Film4, 9pm Action-packed comedy, starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Mary-Louise Parker and Kevin

Bacon. Cop Nick is stabbed in the back and killed by his own partner. He awakes to find that he has joined the ranks of the Rest in Peace Department, who protect the world from dangerous undead entities. Teamed with a cranky old partner he has to learn the ropes, as a dastardly plot begins to unfold around him.

BRIDE WARS (2009) RTE2, 10pm Romantic comedy, starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. Best friends Liv and Emma have been planning their dream weddings together since they were young. However, things take a turn when they both book their big days on the same day, which leads to a rivalry between them.

PRIMAL FEAR (1996) RTE2, 1.45am Crime drama, starring Richard Gere, Laura Linney and Edward

Norton. A young altar boy is accused of murdering a respected Catholic priest. A hotshot lawyer takes on the case, despite the fact that it seems to be open and shut, but things take a turn when he starts to unravel a web of lies.

SATURDAY

INSIDE OUT (2015) RTE1, 6.35pm Pixar’s animation, with the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader

and Lewis Black. The emotions inside a young girl’s head find themselves having to work overtime to keep her in check when her family moves to a new city. This results in the chirpy Joy and dreary Sadness ending up on a wild adventure together.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2014) BBC1, 10.30pm Marvel’s superhero action, with Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. Earthling misfit Peter Quill finds himself teaming with a ragtag band of alien criminals to stop the dastardly Ronan from acquiring a dangerous weapon.
