Sports stars team up for Lyster charity night
THE great and good of Irish sport and broadcasting will gather to pay tribute to the former host of The Sunday Game Michael Lyster (above right) next February to raise funds for charity.
‘Michael Lyster: A tribute and celebration’ will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel, formerly the Four Seasons, in Ballsbridge, Dublin, on Saturday, February 16.
Tickets for a table of 10 cost €3,000 with all proceeds from the night going to the Irish Heart Foundation.
The charity is fondly regarded by the broadcaster who has spoken about his own heart issues in the past. The event is being organised by Mr Lyster’s long-time colleague Paul Byrnes. The pair worked together for 19 years when Mr Byrnes was executive editor of GAA with RTE Sport.
Master of ceremonies will be the voice of All Ireland finals past and present, Ger Canning. It will feature a ‘This is Your Life’ tribute to Mr Lyster, on-stage interviews, music and comedy.
