Without a shadow of a doubt, it has been the year of the mask. Sheet masks, in particular, are a massive hit, what with their ease of use and ease of removal, but all manner of masks have made an appearance. What is obvious from their success is that they feed our hunger for results-driven skincare. We will pay if we actually see an improvement.

Of course, the mask comes into its own at this time of year. There’s the seasonal factor — that’s the weather tearing the face off you. And then there’s the festive seasonal factor. Multiple late nights; midweek evenings out, when your face would favour eight hours’ sleep; eating and drinking a bit too much — they all take a toll.
