SUNDAY Back to the Future (1985)

Channel 4, 4.30pm Robert Zemeckis’s classic sci-fi adventure, starring Michael J Fox, Christophe­r Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover. Teenager Marty McFly finds himself on the adventure of a lifetime when his companion, wacky inventor Doc Brown, creates a time machine that sends the youth back to 1955. However, his actions alter history when he accidental­ly prevents the younger versions of his mum and dad from meeting. Now he must find a way to bring them together, otherwise he will vanish from history completely.

Lone Survivor (2013) RTE2, 9pm

Tense action, starring Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile

Hirsch and Ben Foster. A crack team of American soldiers are sent deep into enemy territory to eliminate a notorious Taliban leader. However, their high-stakes mission takes a turn for the worse, and they find themselves in a nail-biting fight for survival.

the DaniSh GirL (2015)

ITV3, 11pm Tom Hooper’s touching drama, starring Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander and Amber Heard. Artists Lili and Gerda find their happy marriage tested when Lili starts questionin­g his sexuality. Although Gerda wants to be supportive of her partner, she finds herself in doubt and feeling the strain of Lili’s transforma­tion.

cLoSeD circuit (2013)

Channel 4, 12am Crime drama, from director John Crowley and writer Steven Knight, starring Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall. Two former lovers find themselves brought back together when they are placed on the same defence case for a high-profile terrorism case. However, their ability to cooperate is tested and pushed to the limits, as their loyalties to the job at hand are called into question. Julia Stiles, Riz Ahmed, Jim Broadbent and Ciaran Hinds also feature in the A-list cast.

MONDAY PaPer townS (2015)

Film4, 6.50pm Jake Schreier’s coming-of-age drama, starring Nat Wolff and

Cara Delevingne (below, right). Teenager Quentin ends up spending the best night of his life with his lifelong crush, Margo. However, she mysterious­ly disappears. Quentin discovers that she has left a trail of cryptic clues behind her, and decides to follow them to find out why she left without saying anything.

the river wiLD (1994)

Virgin Media 3, 8pm Action, starring Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon and David

Strathairn. Struggling mother Gail decides to take her family on a rafting trip in the hopes that it will bring them closer together. During their travels they encounter two men, who end up getting close to them. However, Gail soon discovers that the pair have a dark secret which lands them in a situation in which they must fight for their lives.

BBC1, 11.45pm Thrilling superhero action, starring Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan and Anthony

Mackie. As super soldier Steve Rogers continues to acclimatis­e to the present day, he gets caught up in an insidious plan to bring down SHIELD from the inside. To make matters worse, a ghost from his past returns, who has Steve in his crosshairs.

TUESDAY

the StaG (2013) RTE2, 9pm Comedy, starring Andrew Scott, Hugh O’Conor, Peter McDonald and Brian Gleeson. A group of friends gather for a bachelor party that sees them go on a camping trip. However, instead of embracing Mother Nature, they soon find themselves losing their patience with each other. Amy Huberman, Andrew Bennett and Michael Legge also star.

Jack reacher: never Go Back (2016)

Film4, 9pm Action, starring Tom Cruise and

Cobie Smulders. The former military man discovers that his liaison, Major Susan Turner, has been arrested and is accused of espionage. It is now up to Jack to uncover the truth if he is to secure her freedom, but he soon unearths a conspiracy that reaches all the way to the top.

WEDNESDAY

E4, 8pm

Superhero action, starring Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba and Julian

McMahon. A team of astronauts are exposed to cosmic radiation while on a mission. Upon returning to Earth, they discover that they have gained incredible powers. However, one of them decides to use his new abilities for evil, and it is up to the other four to become the heroes they are meant to be and stop him.

DaDDy’S home (2015)

Film4, 9pm Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg go head-tohead in this comedy. A reserved radio host is trying to win the approval of his stepchildr­en. However, this proves to be easier said than done when their biological father, the rebellious Dusty, comes back on the scene and starts a paternal rivalry. Thomas Haden Church, Linda Cardellini and Bill Burr also star.

LawLeSS (2012)

Film4, 10.55pm John Hillcoat’s Depression-era drama, written by Nick Cave, and starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Jessica

Chastain and Jason Clarke. The bootleggin­g Bondurant brothers find their small town operation placed in jeopardy after a slimy special deputy arrives on the scene. Not willing to back down, the clan find themselves in a bloody war with the authoritie­s.

eviL DeaD (2013)

Channel 4, 1am Fede Alvarez’s remake of the horror classic, starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Jessica Lucas. A group of friends stay at a remote cabin in the woods in an attempt to help one of their companions, Mia, get over her drug addiction. However, they accidental­ly awaken an ancient evil, which possesses Mia and looks to kill them one by one.

ThUrSDAY

ParkLanD (2013) Film4, 9pm Historical drama, starring Zac Efron, Tom Welling, Billy Bob Thornton and Paul Giamatti. The staff at Parkland Hospital in Dallas think that they are working an ordinary shift. However, the building descends into chaos after the assassinat­ion of US President John F Kennedy.

hiGh PLainS DriFter (1973)

ITV4, 10pm Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this Western adventure. A nameless gunfighter arrives at the remote mining town of Lago, where he is asked to help deal with three outlaws who are soon to be released from prison. Verna Bloom, Marianna Hill and Mitchell Ryan also star.

FrIDAY hart’S war (2002)

RTE2, 9.45pm Wartime drama, starring Bruce Willis, Colin Farrell and

Terrence Howard. During the Second World War, US Army Colonel William McNamara is captured and sent to a brutal German POW camp. He attempts to keep the peace among his fellow prisoners, going as far as defending a black detainee who has been accused of murder.

the ShawShank reDemPtion (1994)

Virgin Media 1, 10.05pm Frank Darabont’s gripping adaptation of Stephen King’s short story, starring Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, Bob

Gunton and Clancy Brown. Andy Dufresne arrives at the titular prison to serve time for a murder that he claims he didn’t commit. During his time inside, he befriends long-time inmate Red, who teaches him how to get by.

Bonnie anD cLyDe (1967)

RTE2, 12.05am Classic crime caper, with Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. A waitress becomes infatuated with an ex-con, to the point that she agrees to go on a violent crime spree with him across America.

SATUrDAY maD max: Fury roaD (2015)

RTE2, 9pm George Miller’s adrenaline-fuelled action, with Tom Hardy, Charlize

Theron and Nicholas Hoult. A nomad is captured by the forces of the tyrannical ruler of a postapocal­yptic society. He then finds himself caught up in a rebellious escape attempt by the maniac’s right-hand woman, as they flee across the desert to safety.

the other woman (2014)

Channel 4, 10.20pm Comedy, with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton. Three women discover that they are being cheated on by the same guy, and decide to team up to extract their revenge.
