The loves of my life Malindi Demery

The bum-lifting-jeans expert chats to Chloe Brennan about her favourite people, places and things

-

“I love getting home to my dog, grabbing a coffee and going for a walk before work” “I like to work my ass off, but I also really make sure to reward myself with mini-breaks”

The person

My boyfriend, Danny. We met seven years ago on holiday in Spain — which, at the time, seemed so unlikely, but we’re so similar. I’m sure it was always meant to be.

The memory

My grandad was a vet, and I have such fond memories of hanging around his surgery and playing with the animals. I say playing — it was more like trying to steal the puppies and kittens!

The moment of the day

Walking my dog in the morning. I go to the gym first thing, and love getting home to my dog, grabbing a coffee, and going for a walk before work. It’s the most stress-relieving routine ever.

The song Seve

by Tez Cadey — it’s the ultimate holiday-feeling track. Well worth a quick Spotify search.

The movie

I’m not a film buff, but I love teary romantic films like Dear John. A good heart-wrenching blub, and I’m so happy.

The book

Factfulness by Hans Rosling. I think it’s a book everyone should read before they leave school. It’s about basing your opinions on facts and not just media coverage. The world is actually a better place than we think it is.

The hero

My heroes are my parents. They have an inspiringly positive view of everything and they’re such great crack, too.

The outfit

My everyday outfit is a pair of Freddy jeans and a Rosemunde camisole — simple, comfortable and classy! But I’m constantly dreaming about being in a bikini.

The accessory

A pair of Quay Australia sunglasses. I usually carry at least three pairs in my bag at all times. If I’m not wearing them, I’m probably using them as a hairband.

The gadget

I hate to say my phone, but I’m constantly on emails, or swapping between a bunch of apps we use to run the business. My phone and my laptop are two versions of the same thing in my life.

The pet hate

Lateness. I get so anxious about being on time to things, both socially and professionally, so I get so frustrated when other people are late for me.

The friend

My sister, Elena, is my absolute rock. She is my best friend and sidekick. We do absolutely everything together, and can’t go an hour without talking.

The hotel

Cavo Tagoo in Mykonos, Greece. The minute you walk in, the smell, the colour scheme, the infinity pool, the furniture, the staff — every part of it is incredible. I didn’t want to leave.

The holiday

Barbados. It is the best place. We usually go at Christmas. It has such a mix of rum shacks or fancy restaurants, with crystal-white beaches.

The beauty product

By Terry CC serum — it gives you a bit of brightness to make you feel alive in the morning.

The piece of advice

My friends slag me about it, but I go to bed early — it changes the game!

The drink

When I first started my company, Freddy, four years ago, we were invited to Verona, where they introduced us to Aperol Spritz, and now its my go-to drink.

The bar

I adore a rooftop bar, and I think The Ned in London is the best one I’ve experienced.

The hobby

I love travelling; it’s my favourite thing to do. I love exploring new places. I try to do as many short weekend breaks as possible — ideally, to places I’ve never been. The part of my body I cringe answering this sort of thing, but if I was to answer honestly, I would say my lips.

The celebrity

Vogue Williams is such an amazing Irish role model. She seems so genuine and down-to-earth, and I love her work ethic.

The virtue

Work hard, but play harder, I like to work my ass off, but I also really make sure to reward myself with mini-breaks to keep myself sane.

The vice

It would have to be cheese; I love every single one! If there is a cheeseboard in sight, then it is not safe.
